Some of the most important lessons I’ve learned in life didn’t happen in a classroom or an office—they happened on a soccer field.
Soccer has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I had the opportunity to play at Homestead High School before earning a soccer scholarship to the University of Dayton in Ohio. After college, I was fortunate enough to spend a year training with the San Francisco All Blacks in California, an experience that challenged me to grow both as a player and as a person.
While those experiences were incredible, what has meant the most to me has been giving back to the game that gave me so much.
For more than 10 years, I had the privilege of coaching and helping run the New Berlin Soccer Club. Watching thousands of young athletes develop confidence, friendships, discipline, and teamwork has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. During that time, Allstate was proud to contribute more than $25,000 to support the club and its programming, helping make soccer more accessible for local families.
Our commitment to youth soccer doesn’t stop there. We’ve also been proud supporters of Elm Brook United and their new turf fields that provide better playing opportunities for children throughout the community for years to come.
People often ask why we invest so much time and money into youth sports. The answer is simple.
Strong communities don’t happen by accident—they’re built by people who choose to give back.
As a local business owner, I believe our responsibility goes beyond providing insurance policies. We have an opportunity to invest in the neighborhoods where we live, work, and raise our families. Supporting youth sports teaches kids valuable life skills like accountability, perseverance, respect, leadership, and teamwork—qualities that extend far beyond the soccer field.
Soccer has given me lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, and lessons that continue to influence how I lead both personally and professionally. Being able to give future generations the same opportunities is something I really enjoy.
Thank you to every player, coach, volunteer, parent, and supporter who has been part of this journey. Together, we’re doing much more than building better soccer players—we’re helping build stronger communities.
